Your first dance song on your wedding day is a special moment that will last a lifetime and the choice of songs for a first dance is extensive so you will need to take your time in selecting a first dance that is personal to you both.
Just before announcing your first dance the DJ will gather your guests around the edge of the dance floor. You will then be invited to the dance floor to perform your chosen first dance wedding song as a married couple.
If you have rehearsed a special routine for your wedding song do make sure that the DJ has the correct version of your chosen song , perhaps by a certain artist, or maybe an extended version. Specially rehearsed dances for wedding songs always go down very well with the guests and will be one of the highlights of your evening.
After a minute or so into your first dance song the parents, or other guests, can be invited to the dance floor, followed by the Best Man, Ushers, Bridesmaids etc, unless of course you have arranged a special routine.

When To Perform Your First Dance Song
Your wedding First Dance will very often follow on from the cutting of your wedding cake although it is ultimately up to you.
It is best to allow most of your evening guests to arrive before commencing with the cake cutting and first dance so that everyone can be a part of the moment.
You may follow your first dance wedding song with a second slow song or something faster if you wish. This will be discussed with your DJ prior to your wedding reception.
Like everything else in the planning of your wedding the first dance song should be given a lot of thought before deciding on the song that you will dance together as man and wife for the very first time. This song will be in your memory forever.
Who Will Play Your First Dance Wedding Song
If you are having live entertainment at your evening reception then you may prefer that the band or wedding singer perform your first dance wedding song. This will need to be arranged in good time as they may need to learn your chosen wedding song.
More usually a mobile disco DJ will supply your first dance song but you should still check that he has the correct version that you require.

- Before walking onto the dance floor give each other a little encouragement to boost your confidence
- Walk onto the dance floor with pride, keep smiling, and hold your head high
- Let the photographer and videographer know you are about to take to the dance floor so that they can capture the moment on film from the start
- Relax, enjoy, and whatever happens keep going to the end of your dance. Remember that no one is judging your performance. Its your day so enjoy it
- Your wedding song may be followed by a Father and Daughter dance, or you may prefer to up the tempo and really get the party moving along
